Sayulita Insider is proud to announce our new series, Support Local. This series will focus on independent business owners in Sayulita. Meaning, they do not have a puesto or a restaurant en el pueblo. These people are only selling from their own homes. We are looking for more people to feature in this series so if you know anyone, please send us a message on Facebook, Instagram, or Youtube.

In this week’s episode, we sat down with Ambar from Sonora, who is currently living here in Sayulita. Ambar is a culinary arts graduate but instead of working long hours in Michelin star restaurants, she chose to go her own way by traveling and experimenting with food she is passionate about. She prepared a delicious 100% vegan dessert for us when we visited her in her home! We definitely can testify that her food is great so order from Ambar now!

We sat down with Ana Karenina, a local independent chef who sells cochinita pibil from home. Cochinita pibil is a traditional Mexican slow-roasted pork dish from the Yucatán Peninsula. Although Ana is from Mexico City, her family has a lot of southern roots. Preparation of traditional cochinita is very long and tedios so we followed this 3-day process with Ana!

Raul’s family has been into the tobacco business for many years. From his great grandfather, grandfather, and uncles, Raul has now decided to take over the business and advocate for organic tobacco. This is 100% organic with no additives or harmful chemicals and is highly recommended to those who are trying to quit the commercial cigarettes. He claims that his grandfather lived up to 108 years old by smoking organic tobacco! In this episode, Raul shares the benefit of switching to his tobacco and ditching commercial cigarettes.
